A Survival Guide for Life on Earth
Imagine a world in which man eating plants dine at the top of the food pyramid, and their favorite prey is docile herds of herbivorous humans passively grazing away at the bottom. In such an upside-down world of predatory plants, what survival strategies might we humans adapt in order to survive and perpetuate our species into the future?
Of course, this vision of man eating plants preying on humans for food is obviously the stuff of science fiction-fantasy; in the real world, man eating plants could never evolve in a natural ecosystem where plants dwell at the bottom of the food pyramid and are eaten by animals.
Now imagine a world in which a naturally herbivorous animal near the bottom of the food pyramid suddenly changes into an apex predator at the top, and its favorite food is docile herds of domesticated animals fattened on corn and soybeans. Actually, we don’t have to imagine this second vision because this is exactly the food pyramid that presently exists around the world today.
We humans evolved as a naturally herbivorous animal thriving on a diet of fruits, vegetables, tubers, nuts, and seeds, but in today’s world billions of people have abandoned our natural plant-based diet in favor of an animal-centric diet with meat, dairy, or eggs at the center of every meal.
Dining in the penthouse atop the food pyramid may seem perfectly natural to modern day humans, but in fact, it is no more natural than a food pyramid in which man eating plants prey on herbivorous humans. A meat, dairy, and egg eating herbivore like modern humans could never actually exist in a naturally evolving ecosystem; such an unnatural hybrid species as humans only exists due to our massive exploitation of the Earth’s natural ecosystems.
While carnivorous plants are an illusory threat to human survival, herbivorous humans eating at the top of the food pyramid is wreaking havoc on human health and on the balance of nature upon which all life on Earth depends.
In such an upside-down world where carnivorous humans have become an existential threat to life on Earth, what survival strategies might we adapt in order to survive and perpetuate our (and all other) species into the future? Man Eating Plants: A Survival Guide for Life on Earth offers a practical guide to how man eating plants can save the world!
